The Palace becomes a very, very rich source of both troops and cash, as well as providing neat personal benefits to your future rulers. You'll have the money and the troops, so long as you have the claims.If you have the patience, spend a ruler or two focusing on your family palace + upgrading the capital holdings in your republic. it can get a little stale, but try to keep things interesting, try to create an Empire, New Valyria, conquer Westeros, go wild. The only downside really is, once you become ultra rich, have a monopoly on trade, max slaves, max buildings in your holdings, etc. Lastly, if you have the Ruler Designer, try to make your own brand new dynasty and build it up from the ground, it feels really rewarding to see it take off. Try to role play, there are lots of flavor events for a Patrician, including blood feuds and the like with other merchant families. You can also embargo other cities for piety and gold, which destroys any trade posts they have active, also allowing you to build your own.Ĭompete with other merchant families each generation to try to become Serene Doge, build up your dynasty, make a monopoly in your city. It can sometimes be more beneficial to gain a lot of troops and wage private wars with other Free Cities to confiscate trade posts.
It's fairly easy to, with slavery and lots of buildings in your estate, gain 10k+ troops to have at your disposal, just make sure you army moral is high enough, only downside to slavery is that army morale is slightly lower then normal, but with good bonuses it'll balance out. Also, try building in your personal estate (viewable in the demesne window, it'll be the name of your dynasty) it can be expensive, but if you have enough trade posts and legalized chattel slavery, you'll make ridiculous money like you wouldn't believe.
